DIY Cash Envelopes

Hey guys! I hope you’re all doing well. I know that I haven’t posted in a bit and I do apologize. I got promoted at work and I have been working a lot lately. I’m still trying to find that balance between working outside of the home, working in the home, being a mom, doing YouTube, projects, and all the stuff in between.

One of the things I have started doing to help me budget better –because I got some big goals– is envelope stuffing. If you’re not familiar with the method, you basically take your paycheck (cash) divide it up to what you’re spending monthly and what you want to save for, and then you stuff each envelope separately. Rather than having all my money in a bank account, I have it in cash in different envelopes. It lets me see what I’m working with each month.

To make it a little more fun I wanted to make these custom DIY laminated envelopes cute.

You will need:

Scrapbook paper (I used 12×12)

Laminating Sheets

Paper Trimmer

Glue dots

Fold your scrapbook paper in half

Measure from the fold and mark to size – 7″ wide x 3.5″ tall

Trim off the excess

Put 3 envelopes into your laminating sheet

Laminate on 5 ml (scrapbook paper is thicker and needs the extra heat)

Cut the excess off around it. You will want to cut closest to the edge of the opening. Don’t cut too close to the other sides where you don’t want the opening.

For the labels I just printed them off on an 8×10 and laminated the paper. Then I cut them into strips and stuck them onto the envelopes using glue dots

Keep your envelopes in a safe space–I keep them in this safe. It’s cheap and does the job.

I hope that makes sense! Maybe this video will explain it better!
