Intro:
This blog post will be talking about my return to YouTube after 3 years and sharing the first part of my kitchen makeover with wallpapering the kitchen.
Let’s catch up….
It has been 3 years since I’ve posted a YouTube video.
To be honest, it feels a little awkward coming back to YouTube after being gone for so long. But, it also feels…good.
It feels right.
It feels like home.
It feels like this is where I belong.
I’ve been creating YouTube content off and on since 2009. When I was pregnant with Jayli, I made weekly pregnancy update vlogs before it was even a thing.
YouTube has always been a creative outlet for me.
I love it.
But over the years, I felt disconnected with my content. Trying to navigate all the other social media platforms that I felt pressured to be on.
I shared different things on different social media platforms and stopped creating the content that brought me the most joy.
YouTube has always felt right to me. It’s always felt like this is what I’m supposed to be doing.
It brings me so much joy.
Coming back to YouTube feels a little scary because after taking a 3 year break, you never really know how your content will be received when you come back.
But, it’s like ripping off a band aid.
I can either sit around and continue to feel depressed and overwhelmed… letting my doubts and fears control me and my actions..or I can get to work and do the things that make me happy.
I’m finally choosing to do the things my heart and soul are guiding me to.
I really don’t know what my content will morph and expand into…but I’m not limiting myself to fit into a box.
I will be sharing what I love, what brings me joy, and what makes me happy.
I’ll be sharing what my heart and soul guide me to share.
I will do what is put on my heart.
And after three years of not creating any content, we have a lot to catch up on.
I already have TONS of content that I’ve recorded…I’m talking hours and hours of footage that needs to be edited. And although I don’t care for editing the footage, I do love creating and I couldn’t be more excited to release my creations out into the ethers.
I will be posting on YouTube every Thursday at 11:11am EST so make sure you subscribe and turn your notifications on so that you don’t miss any videos!!!
In today’s video, we are kicking off a kitchen makeover. This is the first video in a multi-part series.

The last time we were in this kitchen, I had installed the viral peel and stick backsplash.

It’s currently sitting at 1.7 million views, but it was time to rip it off and give this kitchen a makeover.
Out with the old. In with the new.
The Prep:
I started by touching up the white cabinets with a fresh coat of white paint.
Then, I painted the bottom cabinets Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams.
I painted the ceiling with a nice white coat of paint.
I installed ceramic tile backsplash and then paid a professional to finish the tedious tile work (around the outlets, windows, etc..).
I needed color….
I wanted needed to bring in more color into this space.
If you know anything about me and my decorating style, it’s that… I need color. I need bold. I need fun.
And I need to be in surroundings that make me feel good.
All the neutral in the kitchen was boring, uninteresting, and …not me.
The white upper cabinets, neutral Urbane Bronze painted lower cabinets, and white backsplash….
My heart and soul needed some color, pattern, and interest.
I started looking into wallpaper prints and found some pretty amazing prints. Since I’m not in my forever home, I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on wallpaper just yet. But, it will be worth it the day that I purchase my dream home and I won’t think twice about it then.
After browsing Amazon, I finally decided on this wallpaper.
I love the dark background with pops of pink, green, and orange.
The white & cream flowers go with the upper cabinets and backsplash.
The dark background matches the lower cabinets.
I love the bold print and the colors used in this wallpaper and felt like it would good great in this kitchen, in this house.

I’ll be honest, it’s not as funky and fun as some other wallpaper that I’ve seen, but this wallpaper goes great in this home and with the budget I’m currently working on – for this home.
I’m fairly confident that I can make this wallpaper work with my style by bringing in some pops of pink, and fun and funky home decor accessories. It will be a fun journey to explore with you in time.
But for now…let’s talk about wallpapering this kitchen.
I only chose to wallpaper one wall in this kitchen.
Why only wallpaper one wall?
I had contemplated putting this wallpaper on every wall and above the kitchen cabinets. And I do think it would have looked fine above the kitchen cabinets.
However… after contemplating on this idea for quite some time, I had a vision.
I always get a vision.
Sometimes it takes a while, and other times it’s instant…but I always get a vision.
I envisioned black and white photos all around the kitchen above the kitchen cabinets. Like an old magazine photo collage.
I measured the distance between the top of the cabinets to the ceiling to see if it would even work…and I could perfectly fit 8×10 photos in this space. (stay tuned for part 2).
So, that’s why I decided to only do one wall of wallpaper.
My thoughts on this Peel and Stick Wallpaper:
It was surprisingly easy to apply. There were minimal bubbles and it was easy to remove the bubbles by rubbing my hands over them.
I was surprised how easy it was to line up the seams.
The pattern is repeats frequently so that there isn’t a lot of waste.
The colors are vibrant and I’m glad because that’s what my soul needed.
There’s grid lines on the back of the paper so you can measure easily and cut a straight line.
I would say it’s good quality because it’s thick enough that I didn’t accidentally tear it.
It’s been up for a little over a month and there’s no lifting and peeling. I will keep you updated on that with time.
Bottom line, would I purchase and do this again?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Without hesitation.
What are your thoughts? Would you put wallpaper in your home?
