Woah. My very first clothing post. If you would have told me 8 years ago (or even a year ago) I would be sharing my outfits on the internet I would have laughed at you and thought you were crazy. It’s not that I didn’t love fashion. I have always loved fashion but I also always made sure my daughter was dressed better than I was. I couldn’t get over the mom guilt…you feel me?! I’d find something I liked, walk around to the kid section and find an outfit for her while I put my singular item back.

Then I discovered the concept of the Capsule Wardrobe. It was like a light bulb 💡went off in my head. We don’t buy all new furniture for our homes when we just want to re-decorate. We don’t replace the floors in our home depending on the season. So why should I be replacing all of my daughters clothing 4x’s a year while debating on whether a new bra was really a necessity for me. The wire is popping out, stabbing me and causing me pain, but it’s was “ok” because she needs new black sandals to go with the new dress because her brown ones just won’t work… 🤦‍♀️Mom guilt. I’m telling you it’s real. And if you’re struggling just know that I know the feeling.

But it doesn’t have to be that way! You can both look super stylish, it just takes some mindful planning.

A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion (such as skirts, pants, and jackets) which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces. The concept of the capsule wardrobe for me is to save money, get better quality items that lasts longer, use mostly neutral pieces, and comfort.

I’ll be sharing what I have done to create our capsule wardrobes so the pieces will work all year long.

I recently purchased all of Jayli’s capsule wardrobe items. I feel so much better purchasing items I know will last a long time and will work with so many different options. I know that transitioning into the Fall and Winter won’t be as costly because we can transition those pieces into the different seasons. Therefore, making my money stretch further and we can both be stylish!

I’m starting to build my capsule wardrobe. So I’ll share all the clothing pieces I purchase and all the different ways we will wear them.

One of the items I have been loving lately are crop tops. I stayed away from them for so long because I was terrified. Nobody wants to see my stomach. Believe. But pairing them with high-waisted pants (or shorts) really trims in my waist, without baring any skin! I also like to layer a crop top over a maxi dress or skirt. Wear them as-is or tie them into a crop-top knot.

I personally love mixing black and white with pops of color, just as I do my home decor. And can we talk about these cheetah print leggings. 😍 They are so comfortable, so affordable, and the neutral cheetah print can be worn with anything. I totally splurged on these freebird ankle boots, but it was totally worth it because they’re comfortable and versatile. I can wear them with leggings, skirts and dresses. I get compliments on them every time I wear them.

I purchased some tassle earrings because I love using pops of color in home decor and in my clothes. I love these because of the three different colors. I can pair them with everything in my closet. I will go into more details about my capsule wardrobe as it comes along, but the neural pieces will be black, white, grey with pops of color (pink, mustard yellow, emerald green, navy) and patterns (cheetah, polka dot, strips, floral). I’m seriously excited that I have found a way of making the capsule wardrobe work for both my daughter and me. Join me for this new journey!
