Ever since Jayli and I have moved into our new apartment, I’ve been very mindful about decorating. If you’re new here, I usually rush to decorate as fast as I can because I can’t bare to look at plain beige walls. However, things have changed and I feel a lot more happiness with quality over quantity. I’ve been taking my time, building up my savings account and generating ideas. I wanted to go for higher quality pieces and take my time decorating.
Jayli knew exactly what she wanted even prior to moving in. She explained to me that she wanted a storage bed with a headboard and pastel pink fluffy pillows. She also wanted to incorporate her Harry Potter pillow. Her taste is much more sophisticated and mature than mine…ha ha…I tend to go for more bold, fun, and funky decor. She wanted a more mature look.
I made a design board to make sure I understood her vision. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. But, she still made me agree not to buy anything without her. She loves decorating just as much as I do!
She’s always had great mattresses because she has scoliosis and I know how important a good mattress is. However, she’s never had a really nice bed. You guys know this, we’ve done bedroom makeovers on a VERY small budget for years now. Beds are the most important part of the bedroom. A good mattress is so important for a good nights sleep. The mattress should support each part of your body equally. Without even weight distribution, your lower back won’t be sufficiently supported, meaning your spine won’t be in a neutral position. Improper spinal alignment can cause a whole host of problems over time, including chronic pain. Jayli has already been diagnosed with scoliosis so I wanted to make sure we invested in a good mattress for her. I’m grateful that I have the ability to invest into quality pieces. That hasn’t always been the case for me as a single mom, I struggled a lot financially for several years so I am so grateful that I’m able to do this for her. I feel so incredibly blessed that I was able to treat her to a beautiful bedroom that she loves. Or in her words, it’s her “dream bedroom.”
