Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a great week so far! This milk crate DIY came to me after making a DIY outdoor storage bench. A lot of you guys wanted things that provided more storage. I was able to get 8 milk crates and rather than stacking them with only 4 bins (2 on each side), I wanted to create something with 8 storage bins/shelves. There really is no front or back because it looks good (and provides storage) at every angle. You can easily add these bins if you prefer to have your clutter hidden. They store A LOT of stuff and are very sturdy.
YOU WILL NEED:
Milk Crates / Black acrylic paint / White acrylic paint / Nylon Zip Ties / 3″ Wooden Letters / Plywood
I did a bit of assembling with the milk crates because I wanted the milk crates to double as storage. This meant that I had to be strategic with the layout of the “table”.
Here’s some pictures of the milk crate assembly. The base.
Once I had the base how I liked it, I stacked the milk crates in opposite directions on top making sure they were all facing in different directions.
I secured all the milk crates together with zip ties. This created a very strong foundation.
I cut out pieces of plywood to fit perfectly on the bottom of the crates. This step is optional, but I really wanted to make sure I could use the milk crates for storage and didn’t want anything slipping through the holes. That’s ultimately why I decided to cut pieces of plywood and for the “base” of the milk crates.
I cut a piece of wood to go on top out of an old closet door and placed it on top. To secure this, just drill a hole through the table top and loop some zip ties up through the milk crates.
I painted a tic tac toe board on top because, if you don’t already know, Jayli LOVES tic tac toe.
You could even make this smaller with only 1 row of milk crates, for a little kiddie table!
Then you could use milk crates for little chairs 🙂 I got these little white chairs that fit perfectly for this table at Five Below.
You can paint it any color you want and customize it however you see fit.
you said in the ad above that you had little chairs to go with the table????
I got the chairs from Five Below, but you could also make them out of milk crates
